CBSE Class 10 marks are an important stage in students’ academic journey under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It is the first board examination where the students face a standardized national assessment that evaluates their understanding, application, and analytical skills across the core subjects. The CBSE curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics, science, social science, and language and also helps in critical thinking and real-world problem-solving.

The New National Education Policy (NEP 2020) brings renewed focus on competency-based learning, reduced syllabus load, and more engaging assessments for the students. The CBSE curriculum is designed in such a way that the students can learn and develop their knowledge. All CBSE-affiliated schools follow the NCERT syllabus. The Central Board of Secondary Education successfully conducted the Class 10 Board Exam.
In Class 10 there will be two full board exams per year; one will be conducted in February, and the second will be conducted in May. The first exam will be mandatory, and the second exam will be optional for improvement. Whatever the best score from the two exams is will be considered the best mark for preparing the final marksheet. This will replace the old “supplementary” model, and it will be helpful to the students to reduce stress by offering a second chance within the same year.
The CBSE is going to give competency-based question papers, which will focus on application of knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving. Except for more case-based, source-based, and assertion-reasoning questions across subjects. CBSE has also reduced the content in subjects like science, social science, and English. The main focus is now on core concepts and interdisciplinary understanding. Updated NCERT textbooks aligned with NEP and NCFSE 2023 are expected soon.
CBSE is also going to focus on projects, portfolios, and classroom activities. Internal marks (20%) will reflect real-world application and creativity, not just tests. CBSE now provides School Academic Performance Report Cards to help schools analyze; these include gender-wise trends, subject-wise comparisons, and national benchmarks. NEP also encourages digital literacy and skill subjects like AI, IT, coding, financial literacy, etc. Class 10 students can opt for these additional subjects to build future-ready skills.
