Artificial Intelligence Class 12 Old Curriculum Notes
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have started Artificial Intelligence curriculum for students of class 12 from the session 2020-2021. The AI curriculum is supported by IBM and aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). The aim of the curriculum is to equip the students with knowledge and critical thinking skills to understand an AI concept. The AI class 12 curriculum includes AI concepts and their applications, ethical considerations, Python programming, data science methodology, computer vision (making machines see), AI with orange data mining tools, what big data is and how data analytics are used, understanding neural networks, generative AI and data storytelling.
This AI curriculum has been created with the help of teacher advisors managed by 1M1B (1 Million for 1 Billion) and supported by IBM. This curriculum aligns with industry standards as set forth by the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) at Levels 3 & 4.
CBSE and its partners 1M1B and IBM aim to empower students to embrace the future. By incorporating AI into their learning experience, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to not only understand AI but also leverage its potential to enhance their learning and future prospects.

Artificial intelligence is the ability of a machine to mimic human characteristics, such as decision-making, future prediction, self-improvement, and learning. In other words, a machine is artificially intelligent when it can do activities on its own, including collecting data, comprehending it, analysing it, learning from it, and improving it.
Is AI compulsory in Class 12 CBSE?
No, artificial intelligence is not a compulsory subject in Class 12; CBSE introduced AI as a skill subject from Class 9 as an optional subject. The curriculum of AI class 12 is developed by 1B1M and IBM with other subject experts.
